Have you ever seen an individual with a pop of color in their outfit and think, “I wish I could do that!”? Trust me, you can do that. Adding a pop of color to an outfit is easier than you think. Your first step should be finding an item that gives you that “pop of color” factor. In my case, this vintage dress stood out to me while I rummaged through the clothes rack at Lost and Found Vintage; which is also where I found my Valentine’s Day dress (See ‘Valentine’s Day Style’ post to check it out).
Once you find an item that has the “pop of color” factor, you’ll want to build pieces around your outfit that aren’t going to out shine your signature colored piece. The best advice I can give you is to make sure your building pieces are neutral colored. I noticed hints of gray and white in the lower half of my dress, which is why I chose to accessorize with white and gray.
Adding a pop of color to your outfit sounds like a challenge but it doesn’t have to be. Whether your pop of color is a shade of lipstick, a pair of trousers, or shoes, don’t be afraid to take a risk. In the end, that’s what fashion is is all about. I hope you think of me the next time you plan to rock a pop of color. Have a great day!
