My Romantic Restaurant Suggestions for Valentine’s Day in Michigan

February 6, 2018 2 Comments

One of my favorite holidays is a short eight days away. The holiday of love, Valentines Day. I’m a hopeless romantic so the idea of 24 hours dedicated to love makes my heart melt. I feel joy catching a glimpse of couples hugging each other extra tight and walking hand in hand as they reconfirm how in love they are. A few things that make this day so special to me are the shades of red/pink that sprinkle the aisles in stores, the dozens of roses florists prepare, and the go to dessert of chocolate covered strawberries. In my opinion, a simple, yet romantic way to celebrate valentine’s day is by going out to dinner. Going out to dinner is intimate and fun. Since I am big on ambiance, I have listed my romantic restaurants suggestions for Valentine’s Day in Michigan. Make your reservations as soon as possible. Click the colored title of each restaurant for a direct link to their website.

Lady of the House     Detroit, Michigan

Lady of the House is a modern american restaurant and bar located in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood. Chef Kate Williams puts an amazing spin on classic dishes. The potato donuts, literally made out of potatoes, for dessert are to die for. I truly felt like the Lady of the House.

Tallulah Wine Bar     Birmingham, Michigan

First of all, wine, wine, wine. If you’re 21 or older, their selection of wine is astonishing. Secondly, their farm to table approach makes theird food fresh. Personally, I love the rohan farms duck breast which includes sweet corn, scallion parsnip purée, agrodolce (whatever that last word means), paired with a wine that caters to your individual palate.

Forest Grill                   Birmingham, Michigan

An atmosphere that is clean, light, and delicate. The Forest Grill serves European inspired American food in a sophisticated manner.   A perfect place for a party of two. Keep this place in mind for those warm summer days as well since their outdoor seating is a delight.

The Whitney                 Detroit, Michigan

A historic estate built in 1894. There are a few elements within this beautiful building; the fine dining restaurant, The Katherine McGregor Dessert Parlor, The Ghostbar and Gardens (opened in the warmer months). Their food, service, and ambiance is one of my absolute favorites in Michigan. I recommend their infamous bananas foster dessert when you go.
