Vintage Shopping in Brooklyn, New York

New York City has a special place in my heart. It is the city I found my love for fashion and the place that birthed my style evolution. When I travel to New York, I typically find myself lodging and exploring in Manhattan. There’s so much to do and see in Manhattan that I forget about the other boroughs; Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island. This time I was able to get a taste of Brooklyn. Yes, I will confirm every positive thing you have heard about Brooklyn because it has captured a fraction of my heart.

I had the opportunity to stay in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is artsy, hipster, and diverse, amongst many other things. The wide range of vintage stores are what caught my eye the most. One day as I popped in and out of every store possible (I feel every store deserves a chance to be shopped at),  I stumbled into ‘Think Closet Brooklyn’ which is a vintage inspired women’s boutique. When I walked in my eyes popped out of my head like they do in those old cartoons you watch as a kid. Excited would be an understatement, I was head over heels. After playing dress up in every garment in my size, I narrowed my purchase down to one blouse. Usually I have no choice but to narrow down my purchases since I am a broke, college student. Also, I try to treat my bank account the way that I would like to be treated. It’s the golden rule of life, right?

My beautiful, delicate, white peplum top trimmed with lace and white floral hangs in my closet to this day. It is one of my favorites. What makes it so special, other than being one of a kind and gorgeous, is knowing that I bought it the first time I explored Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a place that still has a fraction of my heart.
